New Front Brakes on mk3 Cupra

Hi - I'm looking for new brakes - pads and discs for my 2000 mk3 Ibiza Cupra. The car is totally standard and runs seat brakes now. The discs are lipped and its time for a change out very soon. I have had a few recommendations, but wanted to see the general opinion and where and how much they will be. Oh and its for road use, motorway and round town, no real racing, just need to stop when i want!!

I've been recommended:

1. Standard Brakes all round - wont make much of a difference. eg/ German Swedish parts

2. Standard Discs with DS2500 pads

3. Standard Discs with Green Stuff pads

4. Black Diamond Grooved/Vented Discs with DS2500 pads (this shop told me that green stuff wouldnt stop an Ibiza too well - better suited for Saxos and 106 etc)

I'm not looking to spend too much if I can help it and any other suggestions will be welcomed. Oh and its just fronts.

Option 2 or 4 mate! Uprated discs would be good enough for a stage 1 remap too...

I got Brembo discs with Greenstuff pads. They stop well but nothing in comparison to the Ferodo's!

well i guess i could get new discs if i ever did a stage 1. any more opinions? thanks by the way

Greenstuff are shite, no matter what car... Most 106 owners wouldnt go near them!

I used to run Ferodo's on my old 106 Rallye and were great... Would also say option 2 or 4.

Defo option 4! I am looking at upgrading mine soon and I will be getting new discs with the ferodo pad's

I changed my brakes recently, I went for EBC Ultimax (slotted discs) front discs, and standard ATE pads.

EBC are slated for their pads, but the Ultimax discs get good reviews, and are very good in my view.

I think option 4 is OK for you, or maybe get some EBC Ultimax with DS2500 pads and you'll be good to go

They are about £140 ish from your local motor factors for the discs, and the pads can be bought from badger5 on here.

Or you could go ATE standard discs and DS2500 pads, they would be fine and cheaper overall, but up to you.

I had grooved discs and ds2500 pads! awesome set up IMO

Thanks guys. Thanks for the link Rob. Just read through that - i've already asked Bill for a quick bit of advice. As soon as I get paid and if there's anything left, I think I might invest. Looks like deffo the DS2500s and just have to see how much money is left in the pot as to whether I get decent discs or not.

Next thought... AMD remap... I said i'd never do it, but it does sound good. Just not sure on the insurance!

I use this set up - its fantastic. The best you can do without upgrading disk size.
