get this fault code with vagcom scan...

00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

now, yesterday the abs and tc light went out and stayed out all day, this morning back on again.

a while ago the wheel caught the wires and shredded them, fixed and crimped back together, went off for a bit and now back on.

drives horrible when the tcs and abs light are on

vagcom wont let me clear the code, why is it intermittant as on one day not the next?

im thinking sensor but any other ideas.

checked the fuses ontop of the battery and in dash.

anything else to check or is it likely the sensor is goosed?

cheers

Oddly enough i have exactly the same code (except the electrical circuit one)
I have replace Both front ABS sensors and the loom on left hand side as plug was damaged and wire cut....

Mine was initailly failing ABS module and Sensor, repaired as above, Reset and all fine for months.....Now with this C++P weather it back as L front wheel fault ABS....

But it does drive horribly with the TCS and ABS lights on agreed....Wether its Placebo effect i dont know?

Let us know what you find?

I will be checking mine again as soon as rain stops!!!;)

This may or may not be related but sounds similar.....

I did have a fault where it wasn't the ABS sensor but a kinked wire to the sensor, when I applied lock in one direction in particular I would get intermittant signals which would throw up faults and codes. The wire was kinked inside the sheathing but not actually broken.

Mechanic found it and rewired that side and no more issues.

Worth checking the wiring very thoroughly
