Hi, I got an Exeo Se Lux this week with the 2.0 TDI 143 engine and the clutch feels on the light side, this is coming right out of a Fabia vRS TDI into the Exeo. Is it normal for this engine? Also 3rd gear feels nothcy sometimes but have read other threads on that issue.

Cheers.

Had it 5 days now and I'm getting used to how everything feels like the clutch gears etc...

Rather than make a new thread I've got another question about the ride. It can feel quite bouncy & jittery at times, also a bit unsettled at high speeds unless driving on very smooth roads... Is that normal for the Exeo? Other than that I love it :)

Maybe the tyres cause that jittery ride, just had some roads resurfaced round here and they are proper smooth and the car is fine on them. Had a look at some reviews and some have said the Exeo can be quite bouncy a bit like the A4 that it's based on, but the sport is meant to be better with the stiffer suspension set up

Mines not bouncy or jittery at all. Ive fitted it with the new Michelin Cross Climate all weather tyres, and they grip the road incredibly well, plus slice through any standing water like a hot knife through butter :)

Light clutch? That's how you want it to be... As for the notchy 3rd think that's just how these boxes are I get it sometimes and other times it will be perfect.

You have a point! I was only comparing it to the Fabia vRS clutch and that was on the heavier side which I was use too and I quite liked the feel of, a fair comparison would be to drive another Exeo and not compare with a different car & engine.

Yeah, sometimes 3rd gear feels perfect and others it's on the notchy side when changing up, done a few hundred miles in the Exeo now so I'm getting used to it.

What model Exeo have you got? It's not terrible or a big issue and only over uneven road surfaces with bumps in and there's quite a few like that up here in Cumbria! The tyres are all new but not a premium brand, they're General Altimax Sport's which are owned by Continental but I'm not suggesting they're of the same quality! Tyre reviews aren't too bad though and they do grip well...

The VRS clutch shouldn't be that heavy either sounds like it's ready for a new one. Yeah 3rd gear is deffo notchy sometimes only when changing up just the way it is I've had all types of fluids and addictives in mine before doesn't make much of a difference, even been to two different gearbox specialist for both to say nothing is wrong.

Tyres are where my money is regarding the handling: I had Bridgestones originally and changed to Goodyear F1s and the difference was night and day! The Goodyears also last longer and don't tramline either.

The SE does have softer suspension vs the Sports but I wouldn't say that would make it feel jittery.

I think the Exeo is sensitive to tyre choice personally, proabably because the characteristics driven by having the engine mounted ahead of the front wheels just increases any weakness in non premium tyres. Especially more so with the heavy diesel engine.
