Hi people, I did a search but didn't really find what i was after.
I have a 2005 FR TDI with little over 30 000 miles on the clock, after the 30k service my dealer informed me that next time the car is in i should think about having the discs replaced or skimmed. How much is either of these likely to cost me?

Is it worth me doing an upgrade and getting the larger discs? TT ones i have heard people fit?

Any info people can give would be great, thanks.

Hi Aaron

At that mileage you might as well get them replaced. Not sure how much the dealer would charge, but if you're half handy with a few tools it's an easy DIY job.

The 312mm upgrade is one of the best mods you can do, you will need new discs, pads, calipers and caliper carriers.
There are quite a few threads on the 312mm setup; if you just want to "get it done" then expect to pay somewhere between £200-300 for the whole setup from the likes of Golfturbo (brand new sets taken from TTs), but if you're prepared to hunt around a few scrappies for the calipers & carriers you can probably do it a bit cheaper (not a huge amount though).

I'd 100% recommend it though, it will give you soooo much more confidence in the car.

i would recomend the 312mm setup as the price of new disks and pads wont be much less than the 312mm set up really. especially if you use oem pads and disks, if you want the 312mm and need them fitting let me know ill be happy to do them for you

Hi aaron!

I agree with gaz, best mod to help stop you! Better than just upgrading to green stuff pads etc.

I thought you would have them by now!!

Thanks for the kind offer GazJones, very good of you mate! I will let you know.
Where abouts in Lincs are you then?

I'd been thinking about this mod for quite some time, only now SEAT have mentioned the brake disks that i have considered it really.
