HI

Has anyone noticed this on their 2019ym cuppa 290. The car sounds pathetic! Not sure if its due to having a GPF fitted. I can't get it to fart or crack at all. Also no remap avalible yet to fix this problem.

I've seen some videos with some better results than you're getting. But, they are much more subtle than a stock 290 dsg I test drove prior to ordering.

MY19 should be like these on youtube:

Nothing like that.. it’s only done 200 miles maybe it needs a bit of running in ?
Nothing like the farts on my 2015 s3 ..

I know it's a different motor but as our 300 hit 4k miles it has started to pop and bang once it's really warmed up. Manual btw.

You get pops and bangs on your manual 300? I thought it was only dsg that did it, I’ve never heard mine do it

I can't comment on the my19 but my my18 300 hardly cracks in the gear change like my 280 did.. so I think they have definitely changed something... after a while I actually prefer it with less of a " fart " on the shifts.

As I said I can't comment on the my 19 as havnt heard one in the flesh so can'. Maybe an exhaust silencer removal will help ?

I dont hear any crack on the up shifts but it does do the popcorn sound when you let off it is hard to hear tho cabin is very well insulated. Try putting the rear seats down to see if you can hear it i think a lot of the uploaded videos have the seats down. I too am considering a res delete but not sure yet hoping to hear someone else do it first.

Yup, especially when really hot. First time I heard it was slowing quickly at an island, several cracks in quick succession, wife thought something had 'fell off' also hear it on upshifts, particularly 2-3. Doesn't do it all the time though. Bizarre.

Are your seats down and windows open when you hear it? Never heard any in mine unfortunately

My 300 model from early 2018 had pops and bangs as soon as I took delivery, only in Cupra mode. In comfort there was no pops and no dsg farts.
The S3 has a valved exhaust system which i think makes it louder
My close friend has 2017 S3, Cupra was louder, we both went for a res delete and now Cupra is even more louder than his S3!

2018 DSG 300: pops and bang from day 0
- engine has to be in sport/cupra mode
- DSG must be in sport

otherwise no joy :)

I also get pops, when cruising in D and just chuck it in to S and easy off the throttle ( engine braking )

Mine too...Nothing at all! Even if I have the windows down all I can hear is the sound-aktor!

I don't think I've even had one DSG fart or pop in the whole 400 miles I've had it for.

I've heard my MY19 pop once when really pushing and only because it bounced off walls I was driving past. I'm coming up to 1000 miles now and the exhaust has got audibly much louder inside the cabin with a huge amount of induction noise. When stationery in Cupra mode with the doors open you can hear it pop and bang too - so I'm sure it does occasionally while driving.

I think it sounds decent for the type of car it is, a wolf in sheeps clothing.

I've never really noticed a car's exhaust note change over time, unless it's really subtle. I had a GTI for 2 years from new before now, and my Cupra has done 3.5k miles. Sounds the same as I remember on day one :/

Half the fun of my cupra300 (DSG) are the pops and banks on up-shift and downshift. In manual mode they are very loud if you rev high. Even in comfort mode there are some quieter pops on up-shifts when accelerating.
