I prefer the older shape (especially K1). I've waited to see what the new facelift model (cupra R) looks like, and to be honest I'm not all that impressed especially as it's the 'R' model.

So i'm going to look into buying a K1 now and spend the money I save on some subtle mods :)

totally agree with you Lee , i love the whole look of the K1 , Tough choice between the black stealth look or candy white with black wheels , both look superb . Face lift model even the "R" just looks a bit tame to me .

Facelift is far better in my opinion, much better dash and interior, better looks outside and the FR tdi is commonrail now so better on fuel and cheaper to tax!

New model has a better CR engine including the great option of a DSG box. The interior dash looks nicer and even better with Media Pack spec.

However, the car has lost its aggressive stance especially from the front where the orginal Mk2 had a staggered mouth which gave it a tougher look, and don't get me started on the wing mirrors!. The main gripe for me though is the shiny new seats and horrible gear knob. I know the square one was a marmite moment but I love it on mine.

I have an option to have any of the Leon's (diesel) including DSG but I shall be going for a Octavia vRS CR DSG in the spring on my company car list.
