need some help please guys

i recently bought a mk 2 leon fr tfsi 07 with some issues (it was cheap)the main issue was the door open light on the drivers side stays on most of the time or comes on in the middle of the night setting my alarm off (only the hazzards ,no alarm sound?)
i bought a used but apparently perfect working order lock mech on ebay and fitted it this weekend
the car is still doing exactly the same as before ,also the central locking remote doesnt work but red light flashes when pressed
is this lock mechanism the only part that could tell the car the door is open or could there be something else
i am assuming the used mech i bought was no good and will have to buy a new one to ensure it works this time but wanted to see if it could be anything else before i go ahead
any advise on this or my remote would be greatly appreciated

You need to get a diagnostic scan done on your car, otherwise you will just playing an expensive guessing game.

You could try asking if there are any members local to you who has VCDS.
