Need new engine, what will fit?

So i need a new engine for my leon. Its a 1.6 16v engine code AZD. I was wondering whether any other codes wold slip straight in or whether i have to get one with the AZD code?

Some1 may correct me but going off of corsa's and so on people drop 3ltr omega lumps in them and 2ltr red tops in them had 1 myself . But if off that basis i dont see why u couldnt put a cupra r engine in it or a 20vt engine in it alot of people would say waste of time alot of money just save up for a real 1 but if like me u get bored easily so like a nice long project maybe a good idea.

As previously said i am probably wrong and im sure somebody with more knowledge will correct this post just throwing some ideas in the mix.

i appreciate that but that would mean id hav to change the wiring loom ecu gearbox ect wouldnt it? i just want to drop a new engine in because mines fooked and i cant find one with the code azd. seems to be alot of aus codes would that number engine drop in with no problems?

Try these engine codes, There just some ive pulled off Etka, but they all share a lot of parts..

AHW
AXP
BCA
BCB
AZD

Maybe one of those?

I can see the codes but which can i drop in my car which currently has an azd code without any hassle? could i drop a engine with bcb or aus code and it run fine? otherwise what is involved with a 1.8t 20v transplant?

Why excatly do you need a new engine?

You could just buy parts to fix yours if you can't buy the correct one?

i dont know, my mate is a mechanic he said theres alsorts wrong with it, piston rings ect said its no worth takin apart and fixing. he can do the engine just wanted to be sure what engine codes will be ok. whats involved with 1.8t transplant? im intrigued now!!
