Just bought a 51 plate 6 speed cupra 20v turbo, aparantly its 180bhp standard. can anyone fill me in? Engine code is AUQ021109

Steering pump seems to tick when its been drivin for a little while. Any ideas?

I need a turbo timer. What would be the best to get? Thinking of a clfford cat 1 with turbo timer.

Thanks

if its a cupra and not a cupra R then yes its 180bhp.

are you sure its the steering pump ticking? is the thing thats ticking not far behind the offside headlight?
if so i cant remeber right now what it is but they click. dont worry.

not sure about turbo timers.
oh and why do you want a turbo timer? tend to drive it hard and park up?

the burbs...
unless you planning to hammer it and turn it off, the car has buit in water pump to circulate water after the engine is switched off.

cupra power i love your avatar calvin and hobbes rules...I didnt know about the water pump but i just want to make sure that i keep everything running smooth as alot of people have said that whenever you get a car with a turbo a timer is always best.

Andycupra, the ticking is behind the offside(drivers side) headlight

my understanding was that you need to keep the oil pumping round as thats what gets cooked...
mind you i have been known to be wrong...

sounds like the clicking is normal to me.

im also unsure of the turbo timer / alarm thing. i guess if you can find a cat 1 with turbo timer then fine.
but pretty sure turbo timers bugger the cat 1 rating and possibly insurance.

Is it just the R that has this

As said there is a ticking noise under the bonnet from the carbon filter

Well if the R has the water pump after the engine is turned off then ill need a turbo timer as mine is just a cupra.

A clifford concept 650 is Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser and turbo timer optional. I think the toads can do it as well

Not just the Cupra R that has it, cupra has the pump to. I had a cupra before this one, and you can hear the water circulating after the car is turned off.

If you are going to give it some stick, then the last mile or two, take it easy. These engine & turbo's are pretty robust, enough of them around, epedemic turbo failures would have been found a long time ago.
