oh right, so it makes the car more responsive? I read somewhere, that the N249 is a safety feature for the turbo, by us by-passing the 249, are we creating any risks ?

cheers mate

The N249 is designed to open the DV when the ECU sees fitlike for instance in the traction control were to kick in then the DV would be opened. Obviously bypassing this will stop this happening.

Saab, Mistubishi, Subaru etc all seem to have done fine for years without an N249 type device. Its overkill as far as engine management goes. The N75 Boost Pressure Control valve does a perfectly good job of regulating boost and in the opinion of many, the N249 is neither needed nor wanted.

Your car will be more responsive without it and no damage willl be done by bypassing it.

Hi guys, just about to take the car out to see if its made any difference. the mod was done last night.
Just one quick note, with the car being more responsive, will this have any effect on fuel consumption?

cheers.. will be back soon

The "chatter" is probably just the dump echo through your air-box. I get a definite "pshhhht" but my induction is quite a bit different from yours.

As long as you've connected the top of the DV to a direct vac source from the manifold, it'll be fine. Make sure this is the case because the other "chatter" is actually compressor stall, its the sound of air trying to flow the wrong way over the turbo compressor blades. That puts a lot of stress on the turbine shaft and is not a good thing.

hi curpa ross, my bro-in-law did this for me, hes done it on his LCR too, exact to how it said in the guide, so ill prob put it down to echo through air box, the car pulls fine all through the rev range and no flat spots ... so do u think its ok ?? Oh, and it only chatters slightly now n then.
