Hi All
Had my new car for just over a week now and I thought it was time I shared the details…
I needed a new car that was big enough for the kids and the dog, had a towing weight of at least 1400kg for my caravan (I know – old before my time…), economical as I travel a high mileage, has low emissions to save on the company car tax, be good looking, comfortable, fast and most importantly fun to drive.
There was only one that made my short list in my budget, FR common rail Tdi in Candy White with Bluetooth and the convenience pack. Stuck with the standard 17s as I think they are better looking than the 18s.
I’ve now transformed it from cool hot hatch to the family car by fitting a dog guard and the Towbar (Total nightmare, nobody wanted to fit a Towbar to a facelift FR, eventually found a company that would fit a Westfalia Towbar, it’s detachable, with a cover so you can hardly tell its there. The Brink Towbar that other have fitted is not yet approved for the facelift Leon.) I’ve also hardwired my satnav using “flashp’s” guide, really easy to do and looks very tidy with no wires hanging around!
Loving the car!!! Not put my foot down yet as trying to run it in properly but I can tell its going to be a hoot to drive.
Only niggles are that although the car looks great in white, I’m going to spend a fortune at the local carwash. I love the seats, but the misses is not too keen but I’m sure she’ll get used to them!
Next plan is a remap. As it’s a company car I’m thinking of a bluefin so it is easy to bring it back to stock, any thoughts appreciated.
Cheers
Rob
