Hi Guys new to this Forum...

So here it goes.......

I have a seat Inca van V reg 1.9 diesel non turbo..... Its my work van and have owned it for around 2 years... and its ran like a dream.
About 6 months ago the glow plug light started flashing permanently! Ignoring this as the van has always started regardless i have stumbled upon a bit of a problem.
Using it ealrier on in the week when it got low on diesel popped into the fuel station to top up and when i come back to the van it wouldnt start.
Left it an hour tried again and it started.
Drove onto my next customer turned the van off left it for 10 minutes come back to it and again it wouldnt start.
So i got my son to tow me home, Left it over night and it started, turned it off after 3 mins and it wouldnt start........ And since then it wont start atall, Ive turned it over that much its drained the battery (Currently on charge)
So i fitted a new fuel filter as the one on it looked like it was the original one from new bearing in mind its done 133,000 miles.
But didnt crtimp the fuel line. But i did fill the filter with diesel before refitting it.
Also fitted relay 109 as i beleive its a known fault on these vans.

Now ive removed the fuel line at one of the injectors and it doesnt seem to be getting any fuel??
And it may be a coincidense that there is also no sign of the glow plug light (it may well have blown from all the time its been flashing but im unsure?)

Any help greatly appriciated.

Many thanks, Lee..

some may say lala land....
the flashing glow plug light normally means, in a leon anyway, no brake lights so well done for 6months on that one.

when it was starting to die, did not dash lights come on at all?
are you able to vag-com run on it? to see if any codes still exist

The vans definately got brake lights and always has.
No lights come on on the dash just the glow plug light went out?
I dont have no access to Vagcom?

I had a few hours on it today and there is now diesel at the injectors, But there is no power to the glow plugs!!
I took a glow plug out and undone the loom pack and put a female spade conector to the live on that runs to the glow plugs and wired it direct to the battery and they glowed up so they are not at fault either.

I have come to the conclusion that its the wire that carries the power to the loom where it screws together.

Where does this wire run back to going back into the loom that carries the power to the glow plugs???

I have also changed relay 109 so its not that either.

Thanks

Glowplugs aid cold starting, but they don't make it start. You can start a diesel without glowplug assistance although it may take a bit of cranking, and on your engine the glowplugs won't come on until 5deg anyway. I would look elsewhere other than chasing a fault which isn't there.

Another think to note is that the ecu won't enable fuel injection until the engine speed hits 300rpm, so if your battery mis failing and not cranking the engine fast enough then it won't fire. The starter motor can also fail and slow down so it cranks below the critical level.
