was coming back from storm developments yesterday after a cambelt and service, giving the car a bit of throttle, then bang it starts running like a complete dog
pulled over, engine is chugging, low revs are very suffocated and the whole car is vibrating
first i thought a pipe had come off somewhere, but couldnt have as the turbo still had pressure. had experience of the intercooler pipe popping off on my ibiza and the whole engine dies so could not be that.
then i remember reading on here (thanks SC.net) that if a coil pack goes the car runs like someone has just put coal into the fuel tank!
luckily and i MEAN lukily i had broken down literally 2 mins from my mates who has an ibiza cupra and he had changed the coil packs no more than a week ago
so managed to get the car to limp to his house....luckily it was the first coil pack, changed it over, car is running back to normal
now i dont know if its just me, but it seems smoother and more responsive...is this my imagination or have other people experienced changing their coil packs and then it feels smoother and the car drives better
by the way its not Storms fault, so not blaming them, doing the service probably upset the coil pack which was on its way out anyway, just sods law it could not have failed at the garage during the servce
