My Car is broken :(

Seat Ibiza SX

First post and its a bad one :(

Got a Seat Ibiza, 2004, 1.2, 3 cylinder, SX.

Got the car 4 months ago, passed my test 2 months ago, so have been driving around alot.

The car has been fine until today :( was driving along the moterway and pulled of the slip road ans stoped at the lights, pulled away went around the roundabout took the exit and put my foot down, started to accelerate away then all of a sunden loss of acceleration :( and see the engine diagnostic light flashing.

Pull up, turn the engine off have a look around the car but can't see anything.

Have ago at driving it, goes ok, but nothing like normal;

- the whole car kinda judders at tick over and feels like it will stall (but won't) to stop this you have to hold it above 1500 revs.

- can pull away but not like normal, very low power, but can get above 3000 revs etc like normal.

- it also sounds like it is running on onlt 2 cylinders, when stading at the back of the car it sounds a bit like a tractor!

i think the car has gone into limp mode?

Getting a diagnostic check done on thursday, but was wondering if any one else has heard or had this problem before?

any one got any ideas?

must say very good car though. :)

cheers.

Yep it happened to me, it'll probably be one of the 3 coil packs that’s gone, they cost about £15- £30 to replace depending where you get them from. I spoke to my dealer and they said its prob this. My advice, call the RAC or alike as they normally have a coil or two on their vans. Also don’t drive the car as it lead to my cat needing replacing due to over fuelling and the cat filling up with fuel. if u need to know how to change the coils I can walk you through it its easy. Only thing is ull need a diagnostic done to establish which has gone, plus to get the light reset. i also had the remaining 2 coil go down on me to so endend up doin the lot

Just found the receipt for the coils, I got 2 for £50 from euro car parts as the dealers had run out and they were on back order! RAC dude charged like £36 for one but hey it got me back on the road there and then, plus it was free diagnostics and free labour!:harhar:

Good news

Took the car to a local garage, they did a diagnostic check (for £25), and found number 3 cyl was not working so they got a new coil and changed it.

Bad news

Picked the car up and drove it home, but it wasn't running rite so took it back and the too it for a spin and pluged the comp back in and found number 2 cyl had a misfire, so they are getting 2 new coils and fitting them 2moz.

And all i got to pay for is the coils.

So top job lads.

Cheers for all the help to.
