Hello All. Afer 6 years of driving a TDI Sport 130 I finally took the plunge and bought a new car. It was a difficult decision as the Sport has been so reliable up until this year when the 'wear and tear' stuff started to need replacing.

I went to the dealers last week intent on ordering a red Cupra. I test drove the red Bocanegra and then learned about the 12 to 18 week waiting time for the Cupra / Bocanegra. There were 2 Bocanegras at the port that day, a standard white one and a red one with all options. A deal was struck and I put a deposit down on the white one before anyone else snapped it up. I was very lucky as other people were in the showroom looking at the Boc too. One week later it was delivered and I am a very happy bunny :D

It is a brilliant car to drive and I love the DSG. I read all the reviews and I can't understand why it is constantly compared to the Renault Clio Cup? That is a stripped out track car isn't it? The Bocanegra / Cupra feels very grown up and certainly suits my driving style. Here's the pics

Thanks for the comments. I'll post some pics of the interior tonight.

It does get a lot of looks and I haven't had any hassle driving it yet. I used to get loads in my TDI as it is a bit of a Q car. This one definitely shouts about itself though.

One thing that is bugging me and I need to follow up. I bought it on 30th October and I think the dealer taxed it on this date too, but the tax is up to the end of September 2010 i.e. 11 months. Does anyone know how this works? I want to get my facts straight before I call the dealer.

Cheers

Re Road tax - many many years ago we had a new Polo in the last week of August - garage taxed it for 1 year and one week.

Hi,
Dealers normally tax it for 12 months plus an extra week if the car is registered at the end of the month so if they taxed your car on 30 October, the tax should be up to the end of October, not September.
If it's to the end of September you need to go back to your dealer who won't be able to change the tax but maybe give you a "token" extra to cover one months tax.

i just picked mine up on friday the 30th of october and the dealer gave me 12 months + 1 week tax, maybe it would be worth going to speak to them about it and see what they can do, its a bit evil if they just gave you 11 months

I had a good weekend driving 587 miles in my Bocanegra. Welsh roads motorway and some good overtaking with ease. I loved it. My dealer gave me 12 months and 1 week tax. I've got a titanium Seat Sport tax disc holder and my SCN trnsfer arrived today. I plan on painting the calipers red for now, but I may upgrade them anyway. This is a great car and you should be proud to own one. I've covered 986 miles and the car is a beast.

Same as the first day, it was pushed when on the welsh roads but boy did it grip and keep going. It's the small things that complete the car. The bluetooth is ace, the windscreen wipers are brill and u can adjust the speed of the lowest setting. The gearbox is a beauty and the engine sings gracefully between 3000rom and 3500 rpm.

I havent been able to get that to work on the Ibiza yet only the Leon. On the Leon you have to make sure the switch is on the l or r position and it works, havent read the manual as yet though as the sales manager still has it..lol

I think you just have to turn the switch before you get out. Bit poo really as it can't take too much to program into the ECU. Maybe VAG-Com could turn it on.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm glad to see other owners are enjoying their car as much as I am! I drove it home last night / to work today in Sport mode and took the cross country route. It was absolutely fantastic, allowing the engine to rev freely and doing quick downshifts under braking (complete with a delicious throttle blip). Then when I got into town it was back into Drive and it tootled along at 40mph in 7th gear(!). I was slightly alarmed by the fuel consumption which is 34mpg average so far but then I have just spent 6 years driving a diesel. I don't care one bit though, this car is a beauty!

I haven't needed to push the engine too hard yet as there is so much power instantly available lowish revs. It will rocket from 60 to 90mph with no fuss whatsoever with a serious growl. The dark cockpit, especially the black headlining, really helps to give a feeling you are sat in something special.

Enjoy your cars! Can you tell I am? Hehe.
