I bought this last week and drove it 500 ks home. Great drive, so much fun and I couldn't believe how quick I got home.
It's got a H&R Cup Kit so handles pretty well together with extractors, big bore exhaust, Garlock EPROM, adjustable cam gear and fantastic brakes.
I don't know why people say the ABF 16v is only good for top end power, this one pulls well from down low and I had no trouble being lazy and going from 3rd to 5th. It has a short shift kit so finding some of the gears was a pain for the first 10 min but I'll probably put the standard shifter back in. Standard these have a lousy gear selector so making it harder to get gears is not the right way to go.
Engine needs a good clean.
Not sure about the headlining but it's starting to grow on me.
The seats look flash but the drivers seat isn't very supportive and needs replacing or repadding. I've never seen a Seat with this interior so it might be hard to find a replacement seat.
My old MK2 Golf GTI would leave the Ibiza for dead through the twisties so that’s where it needs the most work. As a daily the suspension is too stiff for the roads where I live so the Golf front springs and shocks will go in and I’ve got a 25mm rear swaybar that can go on as well. There's also some 16’s and 17's in the shed which will get some road legal race rubber.
The plan is to do some track days (Wakefield Park is only a hour away). If I can convince my kids this is better to take them to school (100ks away in Canberra) then it will be my daily instead of the boring Passat. That means 200ks a day of driving fun.
There's also a spare one that I bought last year to put the mechanicals into my MK1 Golf so I've got lots of spare parts.
Cheers
Paul
