It can't be louder than your bike

Have you had your cat removed too? Only way to dull it down is to have a silencer put in. Mines only loud when I boot it

Ask around on here...i'm sure there is a member who had a stainless magnex system fitted to his TDI. He got the new backbox cut out so that his was louder! Maybe he'd sell it to you and you could get it fitted to your system..

Hmm thanks! think i'll go 2 an exhaust place tomorrow and see what they say. wasnt expecting it to be so loud to be honest!

i had an fr backbox on before hand, and had the whole section replaced today as the mufflerectomy - does the fr backbox include the cat? or is it further forward?

im not sure, im getting used to it now i think. i was just wondering if there was an easy way to silence it a bit (like a centre silencer or something?) - but not too much because then it would sound standard again!

also, i told my mate to drive it up the street so i could hear what it sounds like, and i seen some liquid come out the exhaust - what could it be? and is it bad? could it just be moisture building up over night because it was the first time it had been driven today?

My car originally had a centre silencer fitted aswell as a back box. Initally I just had the back box removed and replaced with a straight pipe and custom exit. The change in exhaust note wasn't very noticeable...only under heavy acceleration it sounded different. I wasn't happy with it, so I had my centre silencer removed and replaced with a straight pipe. The original centre silencer was a straight through box with a perforated tube running through it. Removing it made a big difference to the sound.

It was mostlikely moisture build up. If you notice it again check it to make sure it's water

hmm im running a boxless system catback at standard size of 2.25" its just enough noise, quiet most of the time throughout the rev range, makes a good sound on revving, and tickover it is nice but you cant notice it due to the engine.

ah right, mine are 3" twin pipes in the same style as the standard fr pipes, but dont know if that would make much of a difference?

Normally twin pipes are quieter and ovals are louder. Do you know what bore size the pipe is that they have run from the cat-back?

im not entirely sure mate, virtually the same size as standard as it just slid over the top and clamped onto the existing pipe, although it was a neat fit
