How many MPG are people getting with their 2 litre 140bhp engines. Getting around 42ish was expecting around 45.

Stylance TDI (2 litre 140bhp) DSG with 1900 miles: just over 40mpg local running almost 50mpg on longer journeys cruising at about 80mph indicated where feasible (in cruise control).

I'm getting on average 44/45mpg according to the computer. That's on my comute of about 40 miles consisting of about 10 miles of B roads/lanes then 30 miles of dual carriageway.

It will be interesting to see how my manual calculations compare to the computer though, I'm halfway through a tank full at the moment so will see how many I got when I've emptied it.

Car has done about 6k at the moment so I'm hoping it will show 50+ when it's loosened up a bit more.

2.0 tdi fuel consumption

I have a dsg stylance with 17" rims. Purchased end dec 06 12,700 miles. I check consumption tank to tank and overall average still not 40 mpg! Daily route 14 miles light traffic am and 14 mls return heavyish pm. Poor around town.

Car on 3rd turbo, last one Aug 07, modified design that improved mpg by about 3 mpg and stopped smoking. I wish my mpg was like others. I have driven car like a vicar at times, to test whats best. Over 60 mph and consumption drops noticeably. Car seems to prefers 75-80 rather than 65-70.(tried that briefly yesterday) Have been complaining to Seat UK since 700 miles yet they say nothing is wrong. I have been driving for 35 years and know how to get good mpg and still drive briskly. Now I am waiting for news on the CR 2.0 engine with hopefully 7 speed dsg box, once it filters in the system. Really like the car but I know its not a good one. Thought about a remap, but not so sure it will resolve if a below par motor

Also had condensation in both headlamps from new, now ok after they were dried out (it`s to do with a breathing system within light assy), fungus on under bonnet cover 2b replaced under warranty (known concern, apparantly connected to washers!) also can catch out dsg box 2nd to 3rd when hot in manual mode and get clutch judder:)

In front of a PC....
Currently averaging about 40/41 mpg on mine. I have only done about 4K so I expect that to increase a bit more as I put more miles on the clock and get used to driving a derv.

Computer says average 42mpg - only done 3600 miles though! 2.0ltr 170 (no DSG)... expect a little more but I am always motorway driving...

Have to go to Scotland within a couple of week... used to get an indicated 58mpg in the Octavia (2.0 140) actual 54mpg. Expecting about 45mpg in the Leon... we'll see LOL

Our PD140 Mk5 Golf at work gets about 63mpg on a 'run' when I drive it

I wonder if it's got a much longer top gear....

the average mpg reported on MFD is around 48mpg

Getting Better?

I have an 06 TDi Sport with 17" 225/45 Dunlop SP9000's, bought with 8K on the clock. Initially I was very disappointed with the MPG as my previous VW Bora 1.9TDI returned mid-50's on average over the 40K miles I covered and I was struggling to get the Leon up to 50mpg.

I have now covered 10K in the Leon with a mix of commuting and longer motorway drives using the cruise set at 70mph. I average 53-55mpg on the computer from a tankfull. Yesterday the computer reckoned 59.2mpg for the trip from Manchester to Newcastle (M60, M62, A1 etc) and I did 70mph where I could when not stopped but queues, roadworks etc. Overall the return journey to Manchester from Newcastle showed 55.3mpg on the computer but 51.4 when checked on refill.

Not as good as my Bora but a lot more fun to drive.
