I've noticed a few threads about the Tdi, but none about the petrol version, and as this is the one I'm more likely to get, I was wondering what ppl where getting out of there shiney new FR's? :D

Are you actually getting anywhere near the 35 mpg that Seat reckon?

Cheers

Hi all

I'm new here - just looking at changing to a Leon as the misses won't drive the 1 series diesel!

Think I'm going with either a T FSI or TDI Sport and just trying to weigh up the pro's n con's. Would be interested to hear other people's views on the Sport T FSI (not FR) MPG?

I was thinking about 30mpg so the above sounds promising.

Cheers

I average 26 mpg, but this is mainly on short runs - on longer journeys I get up to 30 - 35 mpg.
Seat recommends Super Unleaded for the TFSi Petrol so you may want to add that into your sums for fuel economy.

22mpg on TFSI

There have been previous threads on TFSI economy... but,

I now have 5000 miles on the clock and I get between 20-22 mpg average (giving me about 240 miles from a tank). Best I've had is when I went to Bluewater (from Portsmouth) xmas shopping and got 28mpg.

Doing deliberate economy driving (light throttle, change up at around 3k, lift off approaching traffic to avoid stopping etc.), I've had 24mpg out of a tank, so for the sake of 2mpg I now thrash it and upshift at 6k :D .

I tried setting cruise control on an empty motorway at 70mph in 6th with the aircon off and over about 5 miles after resetting the average, it read 25mpg.

SO, THE PUBLISHED FIGURES ARE B.S., but then that's the way they're forced to calculate them (i.e. theoretical values, not taking into account drag, rolling resistance, gradients etc. etc.)

Might want to get it checked out at the dealers in that case (although they'll probably fob you off unless its registered a fault code). I agree with published figures needing to be taken with a pinch of salt but if others on here can get 35mpg at 70ish and you're only getting 25 at the same speed there must be something wrong somewhere if everything is else is equal.

Im happy when I get 30mpg, which is quite alot these days!
The most iIever got was a 1 hour motorway run really slow where I avaraged 41.5mpg
shorter or fast journeys I tend to get around 25mpg.

What you could do is go for an extended test drive and watch the average mpg counter go up and down as you adjust your driving style :D

Oh dear it's all going rather oily - think it's gonna be a diesel Sport for me as I just cant stomach going from 41mpg (in the 1 series) down to less than 30. My 225 TT used to do 26mpg!

Well at least I can get it remapped to 185bhp!

Cheers all
