i was thinking....the bloke before me had a body kit put on, there is basically a shelf going underneath the front all the way across (ie..a body kit :))

i guess this almost acts like a 'scoop' which picks up air at the lower front, rather than letting the air slide underneath the car.

would i get better mpg be either removing this front spoiler, or was thinking of (ouch...) chopping off at either end, so that i kepe the corners, but the front of the car itself has no ledge, so the air can slide straight underneath and not be scopped up

Do you mean a front splitter ?

Difficult to make out from the picture, but I'm guessing the black round the front isn't just shadow

Shouldn't make any difference to MPG at all (well, barely)

Any 'scooped' air will be going through the bumper, into the engine bay - cooling and aiding engine efficiency ;) - then out the bottom and under the car

Remove it if it's a matter of styling taste, but not if you want to save anything in fuel efficiency

that black is just shadow :) the white is the lowest bit

as far as the spoiler itself goes im not sure what i think of that upside-down 'U'

ps, what is a front splitter?

Think I get you now :)

You'll hear endless talk on here about the LCR (Leon Cupra R) front splitter

It's the black plastic strip that sits at the bottom of the bumper

A nice aerodynamic styling feature ... and at around £20, a cheap way of finding out when you're car's too low for speed humps
