I bought a Polo from them a few years ago. They were pretty good I thought. No pushy sales - if you don't buy the car then someone else will.

I bought a New Leon TDi Stylance from Motorpoint in Burnley just over a month ago. No problem with their service. Saved over £3k all in all. Main Seat dealers couldn't get anywhere near on price. They told me it was an import (destined for Ireland they thought) and that I would appear as the second owner on the log book. I declined their offer of GAP insurance and additional 3rd year warranty (Bought GAP for £130 for 3 years on the net compared to £300 from Motorpoint).

I know loads of people who have bought from Motorpoint and all have had a good experience. It's better if you are a cash buyer, their part exchange valuations are very low. I sold my car privately and got £1300 more than they offered.

To be honest don't worry about the 'import' detail - they are all built in the same factory in Spain! My previous car (Audi A3TDi SE) was an import and I never had any problems in getting any spares. Sometimes spares places try to match parts to the reg no. They may not find it due to the 'import' tag but can trace it if you supply the chassis number.

If you buy from Motorpoint I would recommend checking the car over VERY carefully before payment and collection and reject it if you find anything wrong. My car had scratch damage to the underside of the front bumper but I did not notice it for over 3 weeks as I went on holiday the day after delivery. I know I haven't done it (wife's still too scared to drive it so it's not her) but I have no way of proving the car was supplied like that. It looks like either ramp or transporter damage to me. It's too far for me to go back and argue the toss (or even look at their other cars for similar damage to prove it might be them) and then get nowhere.

However, my local friendly Seat dealer has arranged for their minor repair paint guy to sort it for £100 next week and has also kindly agreed to lend me a courtesy car. How good is that for service!! As long as he does a good job matching the paint I will be happy to name the dealer and the paint guy when it's been done. They have looked after me with 10% off various accessories so far inc armrest for £50.

The dealer also informed me that the car was destined to go to Cyprus not Ireland. I have checked both Seat Ireland and Cyprus websites and compared to Seat UK and the car is FULL CURRENT UK spec. It has far more extras than supplied to either of the other countries. Build week 11 2007. 2 year manufacturer warranty. 3 year paint. 12 year corrosion. If I keep it long enough I will have it fully checked out by the dealer before it runs out then buy a 1 year mechanical warranty for year 3.

I was originally going to get the 2.0 TDI but to be honest I didn't think the performance difference worth the extra cost and with lower road tax (£115), group 6 insurance and better fuel economy I decided on the 1.9. It goes much faster than the old Audi A3 TDi I sold to replace it anyway.

So far I am delighted with it. Only minor niggles - no engine cover (can be obtained for £75) , only 1 remote key (soon sorted that via e bay and using the threads on here - £30 all in compared to £160 from dealer), no glovebox light (next job to have a go at)

Go for it I say.
