MOT failure !

Stuck my Cupra in for it's MOT today

And it's failed :censored:

Nothing too major just on emissions and a sidelight bulb, which must have just gone as i checked them last weekend as nights are getting darker

The emissions are ever so slightly out of the specified range according to the print out 0.970 - 1.030 are the what you've got to be within on the fast idle test and my Leon is giving a reading of 1.055

Anyways i've got a Supersprint system with a Sports Cat and i've also got Revo Stage 2

The exhaust has always blown from cold around the centre section join but after 30 secs or so it's fine and shuts up, i'm going to seal this up with GunGum or the likes, been meaning to do this for ages so this has given me the kick up arse and will more than likely do the job!

But do you recon that putting the map back to the stock setting with my SPS3 would make any difference, just as to make sure .... don't fancy it failing again

Cheers

Apologies for the long post :)

Same as above. I work for VOSA (name on the top of your fail, VT30, certificate) and we tell the MOT testers to make sure that the vehicle is up to correct engine temperature before they test. This info is on the check sheet they have when they register it for test.

This is not always followed, so like the above reply give it a good thrashing before you take it for test and get them to do the emissions as the first part of the test.

With the slight hole in the exhaust, if they tested it correctly they should have advised it for you.

Just for my info whats the age, exact model of yours? I'll search for the levels that they should be using just to make sure they're not pulling a fast 1!

Yeah i got a VT32 for the minor exhaust leak !!

I know the garage pretty well as the bloke who tested it so don't think i'm being done over and they know i'm a techie as well, so i think i'm fairly safe :)

It says on the Gas Analyser Print out that the "Temperature Guage showed warm engine"

But i dropped it off at 10:30 and print out shows that the test wasn't done till 2:30 !!

For your info mine is a 52 plate MY03 Cupra with an AUQ engine :)

pretty much same as my mot went last week mate i thrashed it around for half hour then was tested right away,it dipped the first time but the tester re-done it at the end of the mot but he had to rev the arse out of it for a few mins then it just scraped through, you need them to test it a s soon as you roll up mate
good luck
