More problems....please help with my boot!

I am almost at breaking point with my lovely car now. I haven't even had it a year and it is constantly 'ill'. Today, the warning light for a 'door' was on. Turns out my boot was open and wouldn't close properly. I closed it as normal, but then if I put my fingers under the rim of the boot, I could lift it without pressing the badge. It's like the catch isn't catching if you know what I mean. Hubby had a look and managed to get it 'catch' by using a screw driver but I don't think it is sorted. Has anyone had this????

Ta from a very disheartened Altea driver

when i collected my altea i noticed the tailgate rattled and didnt shut fully i took it back to the dealers and they adjusted the hinges at the top by a few mm and it now shuts fine and doesnt rattle, maybe you could try adjusting the hinges as it sounds like the tailgate isnt catching properly.

failing that maybe try oiling the lock plate and catch on the tailgate and boot.

Thanks for the reply. I have told hubby the suggestion and he says it is the actual lock that isn't locking. Any other ideas???

With each problem, I love my car a little less :(

try adjusting the catch plate on the boot floor its very easy to do just a few screws and tap it gently towards you a few mm and tighten and try shutting tailgate. whilst there i would also wd40 the catch and opettae the opening badge a couple of times and then re wd40it sounds like when you are shutting the boot the catch isnt hooking onto the plate so hopefully this will cure the problem.

i would add that before you adjust the plate mark round it with a pencil that way you know where it was originally, the screws that hold the plate on are like a torx fitting, they look like a circle with lots of teeth,
