An air filter will improve the sound, an Open air filter more so than an enclosed one, also i believe the samco / forge TIP also make a difference to the sound.

this is something iv thought alot about

the belief is that an open air filter will take n hot air. and for an normally aspirated engine this is not a good thing as the old equation goes... more cold air = more power

but on a turbo charged engine...the turbo is blowing HOT AS **** air through the intercooler(s) so surelyhot air being drawn into the turbo makes no difference?

just a theory

i could never see that it would be taking air that much hotter if i use cold air feeds well enough, i just want it to sound a little better so perhaps a dynatwist is the option, ummm?

I've run my dynatwist with no shield for a few weeks, and had no problems.
I'd assume its ok, to run it like that, as most of the driving i'm doing is free flowing, so the air flow is cold.

Only thing I could think of with MAF/ hot air cold air saga is that with hot air being less dense would that effect the MAF values atall? If you had a known amount of cold air and hot air would the MAF read a lower value for the Warmer air passing?

That said, I have my sheild of still. Difference would be minimal I would of thought anyway?

You'd think so, and I did too, but I replaced the cover on mine yesterday and could feel the benefit straight away, just pulled harder. Plus when James at JBS saw I didn't have the cover on he nearly bit my head off! lol

If the car's remapped you still get a nice noise with the shield on, plus the exhaust will give the sounds you want. :)

Hi
If you wanted some nice sounds what I would reccomend with the Millteck would be a Forge Diverter valve and a CAI
My son had these fitted on to his Mk4 Golf last week and the noise that these parts made was great!
Fully reccomend it.
The results with a remap too would be fantastic!

cold air intake

my mate has a carbonio fitted to his Golf GTi and it whooshes like hell! lol

by having the filter inside the bumper a venting sound echoes through the carbon pipe and out the filterr away from the noisey engine and out into the atmosphere...VERY LOUD
