So, after reading a bit about turbo hoses popping off and mine popping off and now seeming to leak on full boost (feels a bit down / rough, more black smoke than usual). One part of the pipe has been replaced by local garage, but the other two thirds left alone (apparently the pipe is in 3 sections - not had a good look myself).

The recommendation seems to be that you don't need new pipes, just clips? And that there are a number of different sizes? Does this get shown under ETKA/ELSA/whatever the name is?

Can anybody help with the right sizes / part numbers? I trust my local dealer as much as a drug dealer.

when the clip pops off it normally takes a bit of plastic with it i replaced about 6 of these then i decided to go to sfs performance and buy the silicon hose kit and haven't had any problems with this so far. check the whole way round the plactic normally it snaps a bit off but best thing to do is to de-greaser the connections before putting them back on, i don't have the part no for the clips but call vw or seat they should know what your talking about

hi mate they do a silicon kit for the gold mk4 gt tdi 130 but it goes into the smic i don't know if you have a fmic or not? but if you do you will just need to chop it about a bit, when i get the car back later i will take some photo's it looks seriously coool though mate, much bigger bore aswell so you MAY feel a slight performance increase

k mate just waiting for jabba to call me up the kit also comes with the fixers at either end so it will fit in the oem clips and they are made from solid metar rather than the tin can that seat used to make them lol so you shouldn't have any problems with pipes poping off!! i have an egr replacement on mine so i only have jubilee clips now but the pipe should fit might have to trim a few bits down but i got mine to fit call up sfs performance they are top guys!!

infact i just called them because you know the pipe that was poping off with forge's dv kit?? i want that the same bore size as there pipework otherwise i will have to mount the dv miles down which will be a bit crap!! just bare in mind if your going to get a forge fmic you will need a reducer because the forge pipes fit inside the sfs ones there is that much difference!!

Hi guys got some pics of my engine bay after i put the dv on i do have a pic before will get it off my bro's camera later, i actually bought a sfs t piece so i could plumb in the dv off the sfs pipe and i think it looks nice aswell. i have the egr replacement pipe aswell so i dont have any of those crappy tin clips on that whole part of the boost run its all jubilee clips, and if you go to sfs they have some "special" ones and since i put them on my pipes haven't poped off once

Fair enough, i was lead to believe that VNT's dont have blow off or DV's as they work on a vacuum principle. anyone care to elaborate.

so could you fit one on a TDi with a stock turbo on it? or is it purely needed for bigger turbo upgrades?

a blow off valves purpose is to expell any unwanted boost when you let off the throttle but on a diesel it serves very little purpose - it just makes a nice sound and your car smoke like f*ck.

thanks MJ, your info is "proper BO!" - sorry i jus had to :)

well if its gonna smoke more than i'd rather live without the sound, i suppose you'd need it though for a VNT 17/22 hybrid boosting hard.
