Hi guys I have a 1.2 02 plate Ibiza and I had nothing problems!!! I’ve had the cat go, all 3 coils pack up, lambda probes go down, intermittent dash lights, clutch slave and master cylinder problems, rear exhaust heat shield fall off, headlamp bulb holder broken needing a complete headlamp to solve the problem and the cars only done 57000 mile! [:@]:help:[:@]

After all this now the instrument cluster keeps dropping out. Basically ill be driving along and all the needles will drop to the stops and all the lights will go out, the only thing the stays up is the time, outside temp and the mileage! Any ideas chaps?

I’m a little put off now by the mk4, but really like the car are the diesels any more reliable?

Only problem with the fr is insurance as I’m only 20 and have held a licence less then 2 year, the 1.2 jus under a grand a year!

O yeah one other problem is intermittent unlock of the drivers door, push the button and it will some time unlock when it doesn’t try it with the key it can be very stiff and reluctant to budge. At a guess id say it’s the actuator playing up. Any one know how much/how hard they are to change?

It’s only had 2 lady owners prior to myself!! I’ve put 27000 on the clock within the year and a bit that I’ve owned it. Its not like I rag it either, I drive mostly motorways and cruise around the 70-80mph mark! Even my local stealer says that the stuff that’s gone on it isn’t the normal problems!

Boy down my road is selling his 320i beemer. Only had "2 lady owners" including himself. People swindle that stuff but chances are you probably got a lemon. Get rid and get another one.

Crikey that's a lot to go wrong on one car. As above, I'd get shot of it !

Have heard one or two people having problems with the instrument cluster, not sure what the problem is, a search might throw up some results.

In my brothers case we removed it, soldered everywhere we could to try and get rid of any dry joints, cleaned all plug/socket contacts but in the end the cluster needed replacing
couldn't find a scrap one and even if we did it would need vag-com or a dealer to pair it to the car

so a new one was fitted by our local stealer £600 later it was all good :(

My local stealer has said that it’s likely to be 1 of 2 things, 1. Dodgy earth under the scuttle panel 2. New cluster at £500ish to supply and fit.

Think its time this one goes! Any suggestions for a replacement?
