Hey all,

Just a quick question regarding some possible upgrades for my Mk4 FR. Basically whats worth getting, and whats not, and also what will affect my insurance?

Im considering replacing the standard Bosch diverter, with the Forge 006 or 007 aluminium valve. I have a feeling that the Bosch one is really pants, and if its better for the engine id rather fork out for a much better quality one (really SEAT should have fitted better quality valves as standard)

Also, im considering maybe a cold air intake or new air filter. However im not really that bothered about any remaps as im paying through my eyes for my insurance to start with (maybe in a couple of year if my insurance comes down ill remap).

So my question is, is it worth getting the above quick mods, and if so is it going to affect my warranty (still 18 months left), and my insurance? For example if I fit a new DV and intake system, would seat refuse to replace for example the MAF under warranty if it became faulty?

Cheers

i would go for the forge 007 shouldnt affect warrenty as its really working the same as the bosch valve but if you get it in black they might not even see its been changed. a green pannel filter helps and get the cupra intake as its twice the size and is a seat part.

cupra intake isn't an 'accessory' of sorts, just a part off the cupra. Fits perfectly and is a very common mod, any more info just search for pd160 intake etc

There is no extra boost coming from anywhere so why bother with any upgrades? Bosh standard DV is fine for a standard engine, the N249 valve is a safety valve for it. Cupra intake is a good idea but there is no point if your not going to get the car remapped to suit the increase airflow from an induction kit/green panel intake. Don't think the turbo will request anymore air that its mapped for.

My thought is... do nothing to it if you don't plan on having a remap. Try upgrading the interior.. ie chrome handbrake cover, and other chrome bits and bobs.

I think I might wait a bit for my insurance renewal and then ask how much it would be if I remapped, only 3 months left on my policy so gives me time to save up for these upgrades, I suppose.

Cheers for the advice,
