Mk4 1.2 Servicing

Good Morning Peeps,

We have just looking at our first DIY service on our 1.2 (AZQ) Mk4 Ibiza and have come across some issues we hope you folks can shed some light on.

Firstly local stockists (inc Halfords) do not seem to stock the air filter and spark plugs as standard - but these are not issue as I have sourced them form the internet. So I would like your comments on the following ( and make sure I have ordered the correct bits:redface:):

K & N (33-2850) Air filter
NGK Iridium (ZFR5FIX11) spark plugs

I have also bought some Powerflex bushes as those on my front wishbone are shot; is this common after 40000?? And these okay??

Anyway to my final question; once we the plastic cover/air filter holder of the engine, we could not get to the spark plugs! Is there a tool required to remove the moulded spark plug caps as we did not want to force & risk break in them.

Sorry for my rambling - but have only just found you forums

Many thanks

Orca

sorry mate I don't know a lot about the 1.2 except that 40k-50k miles is when the timing chain tensioner seems to let go and allow the chain to jump

have a good look at the chain tension as it can bend valves if it jumps more than a few teeth

ohh yeah 40k for the bushes is not out of the ordinary

Thanks for this.

Its all sorted thanks - I though the coil pack was one for all the cylinders (as with our Zafira).

Once we worked out they were individual then we were able to replace the spark plug.
