just been searching through lots of threads about ibiza owners looking to get a new clutch fitted and not one thread ended with and answer/solution

my clutch is slipping bad and im losing performance because of it but worse is hearing the engine rev to 4.5/5k and hold while the clutch and flywheel catch up with each other, its not a pretty sound. and just as worrying is that occasionally i get a stink of burning clutch parts or fluid. sometimes when im cornering for some reason? anyone able to elaborate?

so on the vag spares website the sach lutch kit is 70quid and one place i enquired at said theyd charge about 150quid labour but said theyd be able to get a clutch cheaper than id be able to. only concern was the quality of work id recieve

so what should i do, what should i be looking to pay? any of the scn supporters that can do the same job let me know what u charge please.

can the A&M lads supply and fit a clutch for me?

i need real figures now no guesses thanks

Depening on price of the standard replacement to a upgraded clutch.
For what you want to do Carl I can't see you needing an upgraded clutch setup.
Of course if the prices are'nt too far apart you may aswell go for it.

G60 needs a 228mm flywheel (vr6/2.0 16v abf)

It's 3-4hrs to change a 'box & clutch - so £150 seems reasonable.

They will make a mark up on the parts, so you could save on that by getting them & giving to them... but if thye don't work or break youhave no comeback.

lol theres no way im going for an uprated clutch, the car wont be tuned anymore than it already is beside the addition of an fmic.
the price difference is more than double some even triple.

there are ppl wil standard clutches running over 300bhp (how long they last is another matter) so if its good enough for them its good enough for me

really im looking for cost figures ppl, has nobody got any? :help:

I know what you mean mate, its part of a reason why i dont like recommending my mate who does alot of work on the family cars, just incase something goes wrong, and it looks bad on me then.

First thing i would do is flush the clutch out with warm water and some washing liquid (mixed together) with the engine running. Look for the inspection cover on top of the gearbox with the engine running pour some soapy water into the inspection cover and it will drain out of the bottom, i used 3 litres. Then close the inspection cover and go take it for a 30 min drive. You will find the clutch has got its bite back normally and feels nice again. If this does not work its new clutch time.

New Stock OE clutch less than £100 delivered i reckon. Take a look.

P.S added to say dont blame me if anything goes wrong its only what i was shown to try by Jabba and it did the trick.

thats the kit i suggested in the post above but is that everything thats needed? or is there something extra?

iv played with an sps3 now and again and knocking the boost up or down alters the slippage so im going on a guess that its definitly fudged

the amount that the clutch slips is very worrying but unfortunatly i just cant play around with this stuff myself and my only option is to leave it up to the 'specialists'
