Hi,

I’m trying to find out some information if any one can point me in the right direction.

I found a post by eTuners, they had fitted a IS20 turbo to a 1.8TSI Leon (dsg) and achieved good results (300 whp). They said the IS20 is a direct bolt-on replacement for the IS12 turbo fitted to the 1.8TSI Leon.

So my questions if any one can help:
(My Leon is a 6 speed manual)

What torque can the stock clutch handle?(needs to handle roughly 400 Nm)

I know Sachs don’t do a specific performance clutch kit for the 1.8TSI but does anyone know if a performance kit for a Golf GTI or another vehicle would fit?

What are the differences between part numbers for an IS20 turbo, is it just revisions or will an IS20 from a mk7 GTI or Audi S1 be the same fitment?
The part numbers I have found are:
06K145874L and 06K145702R

Thanks.

Here is a list if IS20 turbo part numbers. Diffrerences are they are just revisions and some are only fitted in transverse/longitudinal mounted engines. It doesn't always mean newer revisions are always better.
If you get one with low milage I think you're good to go.

  • IHI IS20 - Transverse - Mid output engines, like 2.0T A3
    • 06K 145 702 K
    • 06K 145 702 Q
    • 06K 145 702 R
    • 06K 145 702 T
    • 06K 145 722 G
    • 06K 145 722 K
    • 06K 145 722 L

    IHI IHI IS20 - Longitudinal - Mid output engines, like 2.0T A4
    • 06L 145 702
    • 06L 145 702 D
    • 06L 145 702 F
    • 06L 145 702 M
    • 06L 145 702 P
    • 06L 145 702 Q
    • 06L 145 702 R
    • 06L 145 722 B
    • 06L 145 722 C
    • 06L 145 722 D
    • 06L 145 722 E
    • 06L 145 722 F
    • 06L 145 722 G
    • 06L 145 722 L
    • 06L 145 722 M

As for the gearbox, I don't know whether the MQ250 or MQ350 is fitted on your car. If the latter is fitted it shouldn't be a problem.

Hi, thanks for the reply koek moek but I spoke to a tuner who would do the job lot for dsg cars but they weren't sure about the manual as they said that particular car had a "weirdo" gear box and that no one did an uprated clutch kit for it. They said if I wanted to go ahead I would have to consider the possibility of replacing the stock clutch every time it got worn out.
In the end I waited and now I have a Cupra 4drive, 4drive makes all the difference with putting the power down and dsg is amazing!

Adam Davies; I just had a stg1 bluefin remap on mine, after driving the 4drive I think more power would've just annoyed me on fwd, it already spun up and got axle tramp as it was which wound me up especially when joining a fast road and i'm just sat in the middle of the road with the wheels spinning. It was best mid range, say for 3rd gear overtakes, nice and quick, fun car.

How long(miles) did u have the stage 1 on the 1.8? Im thinking of doing an apr stage 1 but im worried the clutch might not handle the torque?

Basically dude you have no clutch upgrade options so it isnt worth doing in my opinion.

I know a little late to the party, however I want to point out that I've been running stage 1+for about 3 years and do a lot of motorway driving, and it's been sweet!
1.8tsi mk3 leon by the way lol
