Im in the market to get a 1.8 leon but im unsure on which gearbox to get/stay away from. Which can hold more power/torque and how are the clutches in each one?

Gearbox generally fine in both but DSG can’t handle as much torque. Manual likely to slip with aggressive remapping.

Can't speak for the manual, but I have the same engine with DSG. The thing is, the dq200 is a bottleneck on a 1.8 as it has dry clutches and therefore torque is limited. You can tune the transmission(and engine) to higher torque values but speaking from experience it does feel jerky sometimes.
