Mk3 fr 1.4 tsi engine ticking/tapping?

Hi all,

I'm hoping a couple of you guys who also recently became the proud owners of the fr 1.4 tsi can put my mind at rest. I may be imagining things but I'm pretty sure my engine has developed a ticking/tapping noise. It can be heard easily on idle when standing next to the engine, and slightly when inside the car. When driving under normal throttle cant really hear the noise, but when accelerating can be heard in a tinny kind of sound to the engine. The car drives fine and pulls well by all accounts.

Maybe the tapping has always been there and when you hear something you cant help tune in to it! However I'm not convinced yet.

Does anyone else hear a similar sound?

I have also noticed this morning that when the car is fully warmed up, I can see some white smoke coming from the exhaust when revved?
I have not owned a petrol for a long time so not sure if this is normal or not? It still drives fine though.

I am also having the same issue with mine, don't know weather it is a common fault or not

can you record it by any chance? I have the 1.8 but it should be similar and there definitely shouldnt be any noticable tapping noise when accelerating. With the bonnet up you should hear the really quick tapping of the engine running, thats normal.

Is it just the injections Is this not the normal now a days with new cars

I think all ze German tsi engines make this noise tbh

Mine makes a fast tapping noise at idle.. Brand new car I put it down to injectors etc doesn't sound too abnormal
