Hi all quick question, im having issues with my headlight not working on my seat leon im looking to purchase another headlight but i don't know where to start. Do i have to make sure the part number for the headlight and ballast are the same as my current headlight and will it require coding?

The part number needs to be the same but there are revisions which are indicated by a letter at the end. I don't believe the revision matters too much.

Mine are 5F2 941 008 K as it's a very late run car.

The part number for the modules (ballasts) are critical that they are exactly correct, including any letters after the numbers, otherwise they won't function correctly. The letter and/or additional colour code for headlight modules are for specific vehicles and functions, not part revision, so if y ou fit the wrong one, it won't work no matter what.

The headlight itself needs to be the correct part yes but as said above, there may be later superseded parts. Same for the modules but usually less often.

You can swap the modules from one headlight to the other.

Don't rely on part numbers for other peoples cars, their car is not your car and you should get the latest part info from ETKA/PL24 via your VIN or from TPS/Main Dealer via your reg to ensure the information you get is correct and not guesswork.

Sound alot harder than what i was thinking so just to confirm the part number for my headlight has to be the same for the new one and the control module needs to be the same aswell, sorry ive never dealt with this type of issue before.

At the minimum yes. If you're changing the modules then they will need to be coded to your car using online ODIS, this is not a commonly available service but a local VW Group specialist should have this access.

Same for the headlight too. So it's not a matter of just swapping out the old bits, they need to be coded to the car too.
