Mk3 Cupra Or Mk4 Tdi 130?

Please someone help!!!
Im stuck between buying either of the above cars.I like the shape of the mk3's and have always had petrol turbo cars, but i like the idea of having a cheaper to run quick tdi.
I know on paper a remapped cupra and tdi are very similar in power(tdi more torque).
So my questions are where abouts does a remapped cupra pull away from a remapped tdi?
What sort of 0-60,1/4 mile and top speeds do they produce?

Has anyone gone from a cupra to a tdi,and were you pleased or regretted the change?

Thanks in advance
Oh yeah hello aswell ;)

0 to 60 the Cupra would i think be quicker, in a sprint thru the gears the 130 would edge it and again top end the Cupra would have it. Correct me if im wrong?

lol

Depends if MPG is of value to you. I average around 28MPG, Stage 2 REVO, K03s etc etc, a remap Tdi will average 42 ish I believe?

redcupratdi - his car is awesome, quick and with nearly 300lbft its fun too lol

Cheers for the replys so far.
Where abouts roughly top end will the cupra come past? As ive heard the tdi's are quick to 100 then start to run out of puff.
If the mk3's came with the pd engines the mk4 wouldnt be an option.Running costs are a factor as if im going to get more mpg and similar performance id rather get a tdi.
Would anyone off here be willing to take me out in there car? abit cheeky i know but if i go to a garage to test drive a car its more than likely to be standard.
Im based between Haverhill and Sudbury in Suffolk if anyones local enough to take me for a spin.

I would say after about 80 the Cupra should begin to pull, but they are very similar before top end so if you want economical and fast motoring you know where to go.

Remapped Cupra's can go right the way round the clock, but really...when would you ever wanna go past even 110/120? Thats already 40/50mph over the limit, instant ban and HUGE fine... yes I have 'tested' my car, I know what she can do, but I'm happy to sit at 80-85 on the motorway...

Also...put some sort of a postcode, not everyone knows locations and direction lol ;)

Well depends how far you drive pal! If your doing a 10 miles trip .5 of a second here and there is gona make no difference really! Just depends if you want a sporty looking Cupra or a frugal Ibiza with the same sort of performance??

id get the tdi anyday! yea the mk3 looks better but you will have loads more mpg
and still a fast car.

i dont think the mk4 looks ugly anyways.

how about looking at the leon tdi? they do a cupra tdi in that 160bhp standard
i think!?!

also can anyone tell me how to change me name? as i dont have the polo now :)

Is your car just remapped or do you have any other mods?
When does it start to run out of puff?

My brother inlaw has picked up his 03 leon cupra today and i dont want to be left standing

the 1/4 mile time is just with a remap/filter and exhaust,

i now have a shiny FMIC as well.

It will pull well to 110 in 4th, and will reach silly speeds easily enough,

get yours remapped and you'll be laughing!

Sounds good to me!!! What bhp/torque are you putting out?

Also ive seen a silver mk4 with cupra bumpers -

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=91318

i think this changes the car 100% for the better, how much are these front and rear complete?
I think the interior is abit bland in the tdi's,would the half leather interior in the mk3's fit in a mk4 or they have somthing similar to offer?

the bumpers are around £200 each all in, then they need painting, i got quoted £360 for the front bumper delivered and painted,

not sure on the seats to be honest,

powerwise the phase one custom code remap is 175bhp, with the zorst /filter and FMIC i reckon it could be 185ish

my stats say its fast anyway!
