I'm on the lookout for a mk1 cupra r to buy. If anyone has seen any adverts or has one for sale etc please let me know. I'm looking for a stock one. Also wondering what I'd be able to get for about £7500-£8500 ie mileage, condition. I've seen one for sale at 8k with 78k miles, is that a good price? Any help is appreciated

That sort of money should buy you one of the best out there.
I sold an excellent condition platinum grey one earlier this year for £4800 that had just done over 100k, was completely standard and not modified.
They come up every now and again with mega low miles and I’ve seen prices from £6500 to £12000.
There’s a couple for sale at the minute that have been on the market for a while, sellers asking strong money but other cars have sold for similar with low miles so not unrealistic.
Standard cars seem to fetch strongest money.
Reason I sold mine, I’d picked up a lower mileage yellow one that needed a few bits and bobs doing to it to make it mint and always fancied a yellow one.
Good luck in your search and enjoy it when you get one.
Amazing cars.

Can.you share a screenshot or links to the ones you have seen? I'm wondering if it's the same as the ones I've loomed at. A red one with 62k miles, up for 10k. A yellow one with 43k miles for £8500. I'm going to look at the grey/silver one on the 7th September. But I would prefer a canary yellow one

Yes mate, they’re the ones.
The red one is near me and has been for sale for a good while.
Same dealer had a grey one for sale for ages for £12995 then it kept getting reduced. Mileage similar to the yellow one you have seen for sale but must have sold now.
Red one looks good from photos but hard to tell until you’re actually with the car isn’t it.
Onvi yellow is a stand out colour but it does fade. Mine had a full re spray a few years ago and I’ve had a couple of bits done to keep it mint.
Just to make you aware the lower front splitter is no longer available and they do get caught easily so just be careful. ;)

Nice. Yeah, they've been up for over a year and a half at least, i e been looking for a while 😆. I messaged about the yellow one, but by the looks of it, it's not the one that's 221bhp. Which is what I'm after

Just had a look at the ad again for the yellow one.
It does look like the Auq engine when you look at figures not the Bam which is the better one like you say.
It has the mirrors off the newer cars which I assumed it was the BAM engine, that’s the only way to tell from the first photo. First cars had square mirrors then teardrop mirrors where on the bam engine cars, along with red R badges and a few other minor differences inside.
Are you on Facebook?
There are groups on there that throw up some decent ones for sale every now and again. A lot of modified ones but there’s a couple of mint ones been sold too.

I'm thinking about putting an offer in for the red one, do you think £9100 is too much for it?
It’s been for sale for ages like you say so I’m sure a deal is to be had.
Ron Hodgson is a specialist dealer. Used to be in Wigan now in Burscough I think.
Always has some good rare cars for sale but does want top prices. But if you could get a grand off it I personally think that’s a good price if the car is as good as it looks on the photos.
There’ll be people that disagree I’m sure but the mk1’s are getting hard to find mint unmolested ones so I’d pay it if it’s what I really wanted.
They’ll never have the following of VW or a fast Ford but they’ll also never be that sort of money, but those of us that know how good a Cupra R is just know. ;)
Have you had one before or would this be your first?
A few second time owners wanting them again now (including myself)
Are you far away? It’s 10 mins up the road from where I live where the red one is for sale.

It'll be my first car, I've not even got a licence yet 😂😂😂 I got my other half to join some Facebook groups and posted on there, everyone is saying it's way overpriced. And someone mentioned a 0lace called the vag shed, in Doncaster. I'm fairly far away, sheffield

And it's been up for sale for over 2 years

Fair do’s. You’d think he’d wanna shift it after 2 years wouldn’t you?
I know of at least two others with similar miles that sold for around 8 grand but the red one does look mint and it’s a dealer so I’d expect to pay a bit more with warranty etc.
I knew a lot of folk would say it’s overpriced though.
Vag shed always gets glowing reviews, too far away for me to go there. I have a couple of local specialists near by that look after mine.
Whatever you get an R will be impressive for your first car!! Start as you mean to go on. (y)

Just been through my photos from a couple of years ago.
Interesting.
I know the grey one sold for near enough the asking price cause I looked at it then it sold. There were a few stone chips here and there on it too but it was a 1 owner car.

Yeah, you'd think they'd want to move it on. And get new stock in. My other half had a message on one of the Facebook groups Someone is selling one for 10k with 21k miles on it, and has owned it for the last 18 years. If I had 9k I'd be asking about it. To be honest, I've got a few months at least to look, as I need to pass my test anyway. So I'll keep on looking for the right one

Yeah, I done some comparisons. Said I'd had my licence for 2 days. Monthly it was £170 comprehensive with everything else thrown in
