Hi all,
any know the routine for changing a rear spring DIY on a mk3 1.4? as I would prefer not to use the man in the stripey jersey and mask at my local Garage.

Cheers.

lffrobbo.

Jack car up, support on the body (rather than the rear beam)

Remove wheel.

Inside the car, loosen the nuts that secure the strut from the top (access from the boot)

Outside the car, remove the big f-off bolt that secures the strut to the rear beam

Marvel at the damper in your hands

You can remove the rear spring without spring compressors normally, so just unwind the nut that is holding the top mount on & it'll be in bits

Reckon that'll take you an hour... if you're feeling strong & the nuts all free up easily

Rear springs

Many thanks,

I'let you know how it goes. By the way I'm trying to source a spring, but for some reason Mk3 springs seem to be twice the price of 2s and 4s. Is there a reason or am I not looking in the right places?

cheers
