Hi guys, i have a 1996 seat cordoba clx with a 1.6 engine.

today it started a random missfire, it doesnt happen all the time but when it does it usualy happens up to about 2250 rpm and then dissapeers, it also will miss when just on idle but again not all the time.

I have changed the leads and the plugs so far, is there a common fault with them.

any help will be greatful.

I was having the same problem and a new set of leads seems to have resolved it most of the time, but it still happens every now and then so I might try a new dizzy cap and arm.

Hi I know this problem as I have had the frustration of replacing ignition components and taking it to the mechanic and to wrongly diagnose the problem.
There is a black rubber hose that connects the air intake and the exhaust which starts to deteriorate and causes the motor to suck in to much air or not enough.
The hose is located on the right hand side of the motor towards the top.
