After some idiot hit mine at 50mph plus on a very narrow road and failed to stop my wing mirror had spun 180 degrees and was broken in two. The cap, glass and half the bottom plastic bit that rotates was missing.

As a result, I had the whole thing replaced on my FR (which included them taking the door card off) all in for about £150 at my local Seat dealer - which I thought was quite reasonable.

If the mechanism hasn't been damaged then I wouldn't bother as I *think* it's all one part. You're lucky the damage was so light.

I'll see. The car is quite new to me and doesn't have any real knocks etc. I'll give the dealers a call for pricing. It's encouraging that you've had the whole lot replaced (at a dealer) for £150.

The guy actually stopped. I have his contact details, and will be asking him for at least a contribution: he was going too quickly and too far over. His car is an old nail of a Rover, and wasn't damaged.

One more question: are the casings coloured or do they need painting? Someone has some red ones on ebay, which might be handy.
