Hi, have just fitted my milltek back box and center section, still waiting for sports cat to arrive. I have to say performance wise she picks up quicker and revs higher easier, although sounds near enough standard. I didn't want to sound like a Nova with a cherry bomb although some improvement would have been nice. It's a non-res exhaust, will the cats make any differance to the sound of the exhaust?????

Regards Tim

I had the same system on the same car:

and it didn't make a great deal of difference to noise (I had 100 cell race cats).

Did sound louder when under full load, but not chavvy loud.

Nice enough exhaust, but never really felt it delivered the performance benefit that others had lead to believe was the case. In future I'd replace it if the OEM pipework was ready for the scrapper, not just because it was part of a modification whim.

Insightful comment there Warren.

Once you've got past the easy remap and supporting mods, and the suspension improvements (ARBs, braces) you're moving into the law of diminishing returns...

it takes a while for the exhaust to coke up and then it should start to sound really nice. My LC is apparently quite loud even though cabin noise in not excessive.

Dont mean to hijack the thread but is that an LCR? I'm looking for jacking points to use my trolley jack on the LCR and this pic is handy at showing where they should go. If these are the jacking points for a LCR, where can the axle stands go once its on the jack?

Get a non-res, if you decide it's too loud then replace the middle sction with a resonated one and sell the non-res on here.
The non-res one's are cheaper too ;)

:cartman: Dont listen to him!!!

Resonated is the way to go because it's more discreet and of course if it costs more it must be better :p

Actually mine is still quite loud with the Milltek resonated on it, I do get the odd pop now and then, it just sounds nice and deep but with no droning on the motorway.

A resonated Milltek is EXACTLY what you want. You have just described my exhaust, nice and quiet when driving steady but noisier when accelerating hard.

people must think a non res is dead loud, it's far from it, the only time i notice it really is when i plant it and your get a deeper sporty tone, espectially on over run but who spends there life coasting round, personally if you want anything like a tiny bit of noise more than standard go non res, i think the only difference you will notice more so is possibly when idling, the non res defo a bit louder then but no way ott. Imo resonated is an ellaborate and expensive stock system, surely if you want aftermarket you want it to have that nice sporty tone , i know what you say about family but believe me around town driving normal you won't have any probs nor any motorway driving.

Im going miltek non res system but pipewerx 3" downpipe and cat. The only reason im changing the standard exhaust is because it is about rusted through now after 4 years.
If it was still ok then i dont think i would have bothered as its a lot of money at around a grand, for if im lucky 10hp gain and maybe a bit more torque.
The pipewerx downpipes and cat have come very highly recommened so i thought id might as well change the whole lot while i was on. Decided to go with miltek because of the bulid quality, rarther than noise.
