have got a05 leon tdi 150 with 40.000 miles hardly any smoke .apart from mornings
question is do i need millers additive as i use supermarket diesel
the norm on here seems to be add it
my mechanic mate reckons supermarket fuel as all the additives the car needs
christ what is best ??????

From what ive been told< if its standard diesel, put some millers in it, if you use V Power, Ultimate or Excellium dont bother. Ive noticed that it all runs smoother with some millers in the tank

Supermarket fuel is sh1t and the additives are detergents used to 'cut' the diesel to make it go further to generate more revenue not the additives used to clense the fuel system or boost cetain levels like millers, redex or forte do.

The design of the bottles has always been rubbish, good job the product inside is bloody good!

I keep my millers bottle in with spare tyre and it's always leaking now and again, and when it does it stinks out the whole car big time.

Millers additive works... that's all you need to know really! Give it a try, you'll be surprised the difference it makes. I was!

Can you explain why Supermarket fuel is sh1t? It's all i've ever used and always used Millers diesel additive. Surely if it was harmful to a motor they wouldn't be allowed to sell it?

I've not noticed any detrimental effects as an result of using Morrisons, Waitrose or Tesco fuel. I regularly achieve 500 miles per fill up and about 50 - 60 mpg.

Doesn't alot of this stuff come from the same refinerys as the big forecourt names??

Just curious is all.

It's all i've ever used and always used Millers diesel additive.

If you're happy with that it doesn't matter what anyone says. You pays yer money.

There's nothing wrong with supermarket fuel, Auto Express did a test on a tuned VXR Astra and there was no difference in the economy or performance in them. They also looked into diesel as well and the result was the same.

Considering that, as far as I'm aware, there are only 6 fuel refineries in the UK and that there are countless different 'brands' of fuel, then there has to be some overlap somewhere, i'e the diesel in ASDA's pump is likely to be exactly the same as, say Texaco's?

its not the stuff thats delivered its the stuff that its mixed with thats the problem. Some manufacterers will invalidate your warrenty if you use certain fuel, such as morrisons.
