Microprocessor Re-programming.

My brother has just told me that his work have the software and equipment to edit / reprogram microprocessor,micro controllers etc which an ecu chip is, right?

He also said that his boss has played about with car ecu chips in the past with good results.

Is there anywhere that the info required to do it properly / safely can be found?

ECU mapping is a very skilled and technical job. A good programmer will demand a good fee, and for a very good reason. It's not something that any Tom, **** or Harry can do and it's more than simply changing numbers for bigger numbers.

So unless you know exactly how to program a cars ECU, or you can afford to pay somebody big pennies to get you out of trouble should it go wrong, I would put this idea to bed pretty quickly. Of course, if you have the knowledge and experience to program ECU's then definitely go for it, but be careful

That's what i thought, i suppose it's just a case of adjusting it a little then logging it, adjusting then logging................ until you get what you want.

Don't worry i never considered letting my car be the test car lol. Got somebody lined up to map mine already(Expert tuner).
