Hi folks. I’m about to update my sat nav (
ateca 6po) and can see seat version is 1730 whereas Vw is 1810. I already have 1730. Which bundle do I want as B1 has a warning about size? Thanks further to the above the Seat site are offering 1730 which I have VW are offering 1810 which i'd like I need to know the bundle to choose please.
I'd go for variant 1 using either of the two links. VW servers are faster in general but Seat have improved over the years. You must use the workaround, take a copy of the card. Unzip 1810 to hard disk. Delete what is on the SD card remember to unlock it and follow the workaround instructions of copying that specific file from your old release onto the SD card. Without that it won't work.
Variant 1 is fine if you aren't travelling pan Europe. If you are there is a further workaround for that of removing language you don't need to it fits a 16gb card.
thank you very much. I downloaded all europe maps, and they are more that 16gb, instead deleting the languages, can i delete unnecessary maps? No... people have looked at that. The trick is the languages and that is only workable for a period until the maps outgrow that trick. Other than that...

Variant 1 select one of these:
# ECE 1 2022/23 6.6 GB
Seat portal: http://seatmapdownloads.akamaized.net/EU1/EU1_STD_1810.zip
VW portal: https://vw-maps-cdn.lighthouselabs.eu/vw-maps/DiscoverMedia2_EU1_1810_V15.7z
VW portal: https://navigation-maps.volkswagen.com/vw-maps/DiscoverMedia2_EU1_1810_V15.7z
Variant 1 covers:
Variant 1 Scope: Andorra, Belgium, France, Gibraltar, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom
If you don't fancy these regions then others are shown on the link or currently you can use the all Europe release but with the language reduction methods, frees up space so it fits on the 16gb card.
One of these links:
All Europe Release:
# ECE AS(A1) 2022/23 15 GB
Seat portal: http://seatmapdownloads.akamaized.net/EUAS/EU_AS_STD_1810.zip
VW portal: https://vw-maps-cdn.lighthouselabs.eu/vw-maps/DiscoverMedia2_EU-AS_1810_V15.7z
VW portal: https://navigation-maps.volkswagen.com/vw-maps/DiscoverMedia2_EU-AS_1810_V15.7z
But you need the language delete method detailed here:
This
resource is applicable to all Seat navigation systems plus other Vag brands which are MIB2 / 2.5. It is built from the knowledge base on the Leon forum from a long running thread which has the advantage of tracking the twists and turns over...

Namely:
For GB language across Europe you just need GB and the meta_info.db in the folder:
maps\00\sds
That's a fix till it out grows the card again. Other languages pick your plate and delete the rest except meta_info.db
Well that one is if you dont like any of the European zones and want all off Europe. You can just buy a 32gb card Seat or Skoda map card and follow the workaround for the update but in all cases you must follow the workaround instructions covered in the
resource / overview section, namely:
Workaround
Using a PC or a MAC ?
PC: 7 Zip is the preferred VW tool, other unzip tool including those built into Windows, can cause difficulties.
7 zip can be obtained from
https://www.7-zip.org/download.html
MAC: VW instructions
"
ATTENTION
If the map update is performed using the Apple® OS X operating system you may find that
Discover Media does not recognise the map material or displays it incorrectly. This is due to
a lack of compatibility between the “7 zip” program and the OS-X operating system. In
addition, the OS-X operating system has a tendency to create hidden additional files on
external data media. We therefore recommend that OS X users use the “Keka” unzipping
program. We also recommend using the “CleanMyDrive” program to remove any hidden files."
If a MAC is used CleanMyDrive is run against the SD card after the maps are copied across to the SD card.
Having identified which unzipping tool is required and special Mac SD card cleaning required... free to proceed.
Steps:
- Download the latest standard MIB2 maps
- on the infotainment go to settings, safely remove, sd1 card
- remove sd1 card from glove box slot
- long press on the on / off to reboot it a couple of times
- insert sd card in to computer
- copy and paste all contents to a directory on your computer
- Format the SD card keep it as fat32 and leave format settings as default in file explorer (don't forget to push the card lock mechanism to off) (ditto in a MAC or delete all from the SD card)
- Copy the new downloaded map version to the SD card (after unzipping it)
- Replace /maps/EEC/EEC_WLD/OVERALL.NDS on the SD CARD with the one from the original SD card
- eject the sd card (on a MAC run CleanMyDrive on the SD card - then eject)
- Inserted the card into the card 1 slot in glove box whilst infotainment is off
- power on and go to navigation
The unit should then boot up into navigation. Note it does take a little longer first time round. If it refuses to boot up, press the volume button forcing a reboot, hold down until the unit reboots. If this fails it will be issues on the overall.nds file / copy issues. Revisit the process. Failing this restore the back up.
You will also need to pick up any POIs that you show on the screen since these will be dropped after a map update. Petrol stations, parking location etc.
Do not format the card in anything other than Fat32. The unit runs QNX so will not correctly see the SD card if it is not in Fat32. The CID is not deleted in a format that is outside of the area that can be addressed.
