If you MIS-READ it that 5psi boost change will change cyl pressures by 5psi, you are deffo MISREADING IT - lol

timing will significantly increase cyl pressure, over boost in the realms of boost being discussed here. simple fact
BOTH boost and ign obviously contribute, as do temps etc etc etc, but the point I clearly may have failed to convey here is that Beware of dialing in timing and its effect on the damaging effect it can have..

Your ignition timing must have been in need of advancing by increasing pressures by 300psi yet still not detting after it was advanced. Its not infinate though (assuming there is no pre det) you can only advance the timing to spark at the point cylinder pressure is highest.

As long as Joe keeps an eye on his CF's I really dont see it causing him a problem
