some may say lala land....
Hello All,
I purchased the following cable as was recommended it from here as confirmed working with vag-com & vcd, but unable to get working::
OBD 2 KKL Diagnose - Kabel für VW / Audi / VAG
from seller marvin123

Have had a read through quite a few t hreads inc the stickies and can see people have had similar issue getting cable to be seen during the test.
I get the following message, using default settings
Port Status: OK
Interface: Not Found!

any ideas as i have tried the following:
setting baudtrate in vag-com to 9600
setting blk int to 25
setting char int to 0
nothing seems to work.

Any help appreciated.

Rgrds,
NeilW

@BeartheBruce; yes I have selected the correct serial port, COM1, as laptop, which is running XP Pro SP2 only has a single COM port.
I'm using the 409 serial version of the software.

I was wondering if it all needs to be connected to the car port before it all works? with ignition on but not running

Yes. The interface must get it's power from the car. Will not work otherwise and VAG-COM will report exactly the message you have reported.

A serial interface can only be tested connected to the car with the ignition switch on, engine not running.

thank you all, it works fine and dandy when you have the interface plugged in to teh car and ignition on but no engine running.
will look at purchasing a license in new year to make full use of it; just wish exchange rate was more favourable.

Merry Christmas All.
