Manifold Cover Thing

Do you need this metal bit that is covering the manifold??

Its the bit in the yellow box with the red arrow pointing to it.

Im just wondering as mine is loose and i dont think it is going to hold much longer.

well i took mine off then decided to put it back on as there was a lot of heat getting up into the engine, if i was you though i would get a bolt from stealers to replace it and actually take that pipe off thats connecting it as that is not needed, its just blowing hot air back into the cold air system ....actually it might be need that for frosty mornings but when the weather warms up take it off mate. mine worked perfectly cold without it though.

Is it actually bolted on or is it just hooked over the bolts that are there?? Ive had a look at it and it looks like the bolts dont actually come out. Maybe someone can verify that. Can you buy those covers from the dealers?? Cos the holes on mine are slightly bigger or would i get away with putting a washer on?

defo not hooked mate, there are three bolts 2 on top at the front and one at the bottom front. u can get away with washers. just be careful you dont round them off if their rusted then your fuked.
