Hi All.

Had my 55 Leon Stylance now for just over 2 weeks, and a major fault has happened with the gearbox.

Was reversing backwards at a max speed of 5 - 10mph when i heard a clunk and the car juddered (like i pushed the cluch in too quick). Anyway, reverse now makes a funny wirring noise and second gear does not engage fully but still drives in second.

Also, second grinds if your doing more than 2.5k revs in 3rd gear and try to drop down, and wont engage from neutral.

The brakes also sound like they are grinding, despite the car only has 8500k on the clock (6500 when i got it) so anyone have any ideas on the problems?

Going to book the car in for sat morning, but need it for sunday as im going to York, but im not impressed how i have spent 11,500 quid and things are already, in my eyes going very very wront.

Thanks for your advice

Clearly the gearbox is knackered/out of adjusment. If you're not driving the car often with the broken gearbox then maybe the discs are getting a sheen of rust on them (which they all do) that takes a few presses of the pedal to wear off.

Trip to the dealer either way.

SeaT have come back to me today, after dropping the car in sat morning and they have said the box is knackerd and phoned seat uk tech to get permission to order one.

Anyone else suffered from this problem and anyone got any ideas what this problem could be. I have told them i am very unhappy with a 1.6 petrol leon when i have a 1.9tdi, becuase of the preformance and pulling power, and how its taken them 2.5 days to find the fault, when i have only had the car 3 weeks!!

So ill be trying for free servive or something like that
