Thanks mate, cambelt was done at 37,000 so won't be needing to do that but will check out fuel treatments, is Millers the one you recommend?

Other fuel treatments are available.... But this one actually does what it says on the bottle. Run a tank or so through and you will see a difference.

So other than that... i would say... REMAP

look after the clutch,
dont redline it, theres no point and you'll end up doing more harm than good
check fluids often especially engine oil
turbo let it settle before shutting the engine off or before ragging it

the usual stuff to be honest

and o

to follow on from what kahn said, try to avoid supermarket fuel, its cheap and nasty the shell, bp stuff is alot better for the engine

Did you see that feature fifth gear did on premium diesel. Gave 6bhp more over supermarket fuel. That cetane what he refers too is what is in millers. So i imagine a tank of normal diesel treated with millers, and a tank of premium diesel would have similar effect. Premium diesel is hard to get though i find.

Not telling
My rules are that I don't rag mine till its totally warmed up and that I wait 20-30 seconds at idle before switching the engine off. The other Must Do for me is using the best oil I can find and change it regularly.

I also Never use supermarket fuel - only BP Shell or Esso :)

Ok, just started a thread in the diesel related section of the forum but apparently I need a readers ride thread to ask the following:

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick there. Your thread read " Just hit 60,000!
Hi guys, I own a 1.9TDi Sport PD130 and have just hit 60,000 so time for a service......."

That's an announcement you've hit 60k miles. Ok, you might have intended to ask a question, but that didn't come over as the main point of your thread. If everyone posted threads making an announcement of what mileage their car was on, the forums would be a shambles. News about your car = Reader's Ride thread (1 allowed per car). :)

hmmmm shell it is everytime then! is this only with the v power and bm premium stuff or just in general that normal fuels from a supermarket are worse than normal fuels at the likes of shell etc.

that test was with cheap **** from the supermarkets vs the expensive stuff, you'll find that the supermarket stuff will feel weak in comparison to the shell or BP normal fuel all the same

I used to use Supermarket fuels but my MPG kept getting worse so I stopped. I now only go for decent Brands but as much as Id like to I can never justify using Shell (even though the garage is at the end of my road) as they are always massively more expensive than anywhere else eg. Right now the Shell is 1.23ppl for Diesel and the Esso further down the road is 1.17ppl, which is the same price as the Morrisons (never again!) accross the road.

:) As others have said.60K is just run in for the 130 pd.The engine is the best and strongest part of the car in my opinion.
Wait till it's fully warmed up(which can take a while in the Winter) before you open it up.
My 04 130 Sport had done about 80k when i traded it in.Engine was running perfectly.Shame about the usual weak suspension which ultimately sealed it's fate.Broken springs, knackered bushes, leaking a/c pump, rear dics rusted to hell and sticking.Few other things as well. All wear and tear stuff.
Still.I miss my wee 130 Sport.Best bang for my buck i've ever owned.[B)]

Make sure you used the correct Pd oil a must on theses engines
Mine has 130000 and it’s as strong as when i first got it at 100k
it still surprises me now! I agree premium diesels are good stuff

My mechanic has told me not to use crappy supermarket stuff for years as it causes problems in the long run

dont red line it in 1st and second clutch will last longer
