Hi,
Just had my car remapped ect.... but a day after driving it it started to have fits!

Basically it went into limp mode, then i switched the engine of for a couple of mins then tried it again and it boosted fine but then after 5 mins if i put my foot down the car would start to hesitate like it was spluttering and made noises from the exhaust like flames were coming out, then driving home the EML came on and back into limp mode. the car runs fine on tick over.

It has had a new maf and njk's plugs or something that same day,

searched and didn't understand what mine could be....Maf,coilpack maybe n75?
i will be taking it back to where it was remapped asap due to being at work all the time.

any help appriciated.

That will be your coild packs, there are pushed in and held in by suction, sometimes they tend to ride up and the spark has to jump then they fail, i had that problem.

I replaced one after the other until i had replaced them all, i had also replaced my MAF three times but thankfully in the last 6mth i have had no bother.

I had the foot down when mine went into limp mode i thought it was seriously humped!!

Pj1985 i dont have a problem with mine i was simply replying to M47ners original post, and cutting a v notch in the coil pack is not a good idea as water will get in. If you use a small amount of soap when putting them in it will dry out and create a suction so they dont pop up any more.

You cut a small V in the rubber to allow air to escape as this is whats pushing the coilpack up. It was suggested by bill (badger5). Alot of people have done it to cure the problem and its worked.

So there obviously not popping up :D.

Dont know where that idea came from then.

to me it sounds like the extra power has brought out a weak coil pack.

Easiest way would be vag com

it doesnt sound like a coil pack as it runs sweet as a nut and i can rev it to 7 and theres no sputtering but it only boosts at around 10psi but as soon as i drive and accelerate hard, when it hits about 15psi it starts to splutter really bad it sound like a wierd rev limiter, but if i drive steady theres no problem

Damn. whats it like driving? is is alright to drive steady? seems to run fine, i thought if it was a coilpack you could tell by how it sound...i.e like a scooby/lawnmower as i have heard mentioned before.

Its your coil packs mate i dout its anything else, as i said my one did it after remap, it revs fine sitting stil but its when you load it with the pedal its blows the spark out so to speak.

Take her to your seat garage they will tell you the same thing, coils are about 25 bucks your aswell doing them all or you will have bother with it again.

Nah man its not my map it was a REVO map and its 100% spot on, it was the coil pack as i said, from the factory they are all put in at the same time and once one goes its only a mattewr of time before the others follow as they are all the same ages. (I work in a seat garage)

Yes but his car is not your car and it may be his map but as I said most likely its a coilpack.

Your doing the right thing by taking it back to who mapped it as they can vag com it and find out if theres any fault codes. If its a coilpack and that bad it should show up.

Was just about to ask this, been out in the car tonight......it drives fine if you take it easy up to whatever speed and cruise at 80 and so on but as soon as you put your foot down a bit faster it as you say misfires and kangaroo's.....sounds like your exhaust is blowing loads at the back. try get in in tuesday after work.
