Hi im thinking of the purchase of a Machine polisher.

Basically im not one for regular car cleaning but I would like to sort out all the scratches and stone chips on mine and her cars using the touch up paint/sand/polish method and thought a machine polisher would be better for the job. Probably worth the investment as it would probably cost a few hundred to sort out all the scratches on our cars!

Ive seen some here: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing/polishing-machine/cat_17.html

Whats the advnatge of the better ones, cheaper the better for me really.

What would you recommend seeing as im no pro or regular user!

Thanks.

Go with an orbital polisher like the Megs G220 or Kestrel if you havent used one before.

If your going to be looking for 50 - 90% correction an orbital polisher will be more than enough when combined with the right pad / polish combo.

You will ultimately get better results from a rotary polisher but these come with higher risk of punching through the clearcoat and into the paint layer which will result in bare metal and a respray !

Unless of course you have access to scrap panels to practice on.

Which one of the orbitals you chose is completely down to you. I went for the Megs G220 as it was the first fully UK spec'd machine. At the time i bought it the only other option was an imported machine with a 110v converter. The G220 is a cracking machine (IMO) but the cheaper Kestrel unit does the same thing and works in the same way.

Would be grateful for advice on the cheapest place to purchase the Kestral das-6 on its own?
