My M.O.T is due at the end of this month.

Whats the situation regarding the windscreen??

I have a small chip with 4 small cracks coming off it. The whole area is less than the size of a 1p coin.

It is on the passenger side of the windscreen.

Will it pass the M.O.T or is a new windscreen required??

Please say the first bit!!

The excess is 60 quid with the insurance company im with just now. I cant really afford the excess just now, thats why i was trying to hold off until after my mot if possible.

Its a good thing it doesnt affect your no-claims. When i bought my car i had it a couple of weeks and i had to get a new windscreen.

Your insurance company won't charge you to have it repaired. They only charge you if it needs replacing.

It is only a fail if it falls within the viewing lines of the window. Which is basically the area that your wipers cover on the screen.

I know, the last time my windscreen was cracked which was much bigger than the one now, i got a new windscreen and i only had to pay the excess to get it done!

With regards to the ruling, i can get away with 40mm diameter area of the crack cos the small chip i have is on the passenger side (Am i correct ). I will have to go out with a ruler or something and measure the diameter to make sure it is less than 40mm.

Hopefully it is!
